    Default What's the difference between a 3157 and a 3457(inner turn bulb)?

The part store says I need a 3457, but I pull the oem(?) bulb out and it's a 3157, they look the same, is it ok to interchange the two?

3457 is maybe a higher wattage= higher heat= may melt plastic that it's not rated for.
I was lookin at replacing my 3157 LED tails with 4157s to brighten up the niteshades. Dunno if it'll melt, tho.

looks like 3457 has more lumens, more watts, etc. i remember thinking that 3157 was for Fords, and 3457 was for Chevy's. i do know that if you put a Chevy bulb in our cars, it will blow the fuses....been there, tried that.

as far as LED's, though...i know most places have a 3157/3457 replacement that works in place of either...and will work in either application.

yea they look exactly the same, I just don't want to have a bulb blow up and scatter shit everywhere in the housing(the ones i black'd already had lived thru that). I stuck 'em in tonight, they seem ok. Now at least they're legal

My understanding about them was the the wiring was different. There are 4 wires coming out at the bottom of the wedge, two on either side. From what I was always told, the wiring is different.. like the polarity and all are wired in different.

Similar to 1157/1156s. they stop you from making that mistake with the little nubs on the base that are only supposed to let you put them in the right harness/pigtail.

I have run both 3157 and 3457s with no problem. Its a trick with foil. I'll find the website and post the how-to.
